Paper Vision Statement
From EQUIS Lab Wiki
This sums up the purpose and positioning of the paper. It should contain the following sections:
Working Title: The paper's working title.
Problem: The paper must be addressing a clear problem. It should be obvious to the reader that this problem is worth solving.
- State the problem in one clear and simple sentence.
- State the problem in one paragraph.
Motivation: Specify why this problem is interesting to the community. In general, why is it a problem that is worth solving?
Solution: Specify the solution that we are offering. What part of the problem does it address? What are the benefits and shortcomings of our solution?
Evidence: What evidence do we have that this solution helps resolve the problem? Depending on the domain, evidence may include experimental results, mathematical proofs, or case studies with software.
Related Work: What are the most important other solutions that we should compare to?
To Do: Writing the above will likely make it clear that some part of the necessary evidence is missing. List what has to be done to make the above arguments air-tight.
