On April 3rd, 2008, the EQUIS Lab hosted an open house to celebrate its grand opening at 141 Collingwood Street.
The EQUIS Lab (Engineering
Interactive Systems at Queen's University)
performs research in Collaborative Gaming Technology.
Current projects include Computer-Aided
Exercise, the
Specialized equipment in the lab includes two computer-aided exercise stations, each involving a Tunturi E6R recumbent bicycle and a Geowall 3D display, and a multitouch tabletop surface based on frustrated total internal reflection technology. The lab currently has eight graduate students, and is directed by Dr. Nicholas Graham.
The grand opening featured demonstrations by the students of CISC 877 (Video Game Development) and ARTF 338 (Time-Based Media). This multi-disciplinary course is offered at Queen's University in collaboration with Prof. Kathleen Sellars of the Department of Art.
EQUIS Lab members presented products of the lab's research, including gaming applications based on a multi-touch sensitive table and computer-aided exercise equipment.
