Potential lab layouts
From EQUIS Lab Wiki
This is a forum for discussing potential layouts for the lab. As far as I (Dave) know we have the following goals for the re-arrangement of the space:
- Make room for the new projection screens. Right now we're put in for screens 12 ft. wide, but we can go smaller if we have to
- Provide a working space for the 4 ft. x 4 ft. touch sensitive table
- Try not to disrupt the other folks in the lab
Proposals
The following are a few layouts drawn up in Visio of some potential lab arrangements:
Any thoughts?
Graham 18:21, 3 Dec 2006 (EST)Here are another possibility. This is similar to proposal 3, but instead of the tunnel-like area at the south side of the room, we move the desk there as well as the FTIR table. (Maybe a natural location for David's desk?) We lose the whiteboard, but we gain a lot of floor space.
--Rob 19:19, 4 Dec 2006 (EST) I like proposal 4 (with Kevin's suggestions regarding rotating that top-left desk 180 degrees, but one problem (without a solution yet, sorry!) with all of them is that that round table where we have our "weekly" Equite conventions has vanished. Is this a significant issue? It seems wasteful to spoiling a nice layout for an hour a week. Does a healthy lab need some kind of table in the middle? Will the next FTIR table be robust enough to be used as a normal table?
